Overview:
The Green and Orange Lobophyllia (often called a “Lobo” or “Open Brain”) is a high-contrast masterpiece for the lower sections of a reef. This specific color morph is highly prized because it combines the “radioactive” glow of neon green with the warm, metallic pop of orange. Usually, the green occupies the outer “skirt” or the textured ridges, while the orange sits deep in the “valleys” near the mouths, or vice versa in “Splatter” patterns.
Coloration: Emerald green outer mantle with a sunset orange or “copper” center.
Growth Pattern: Mounding/Lobed (thick, fleshy tissue over a heavy, calcium-based skeleton). 2-3 inches in size.
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 100–150).
Water Flow: Low to Medium (Gentle enough to let the coral “inflate”).
Feeding: Very High (needs direct meaty feedings).
Aggressiveness: Moderate (No long sweepers, but will sting anything it touches).
Care Level: Easy to Moderate.
