Overview
The Pink and Blue Lobophyllia (commonly known as a Lobo or Open Brain Coral) is a classic “meat coral” that provides some of the most intense, opaque colors in a reef tank. Unlike the flowing elegance or the branching hammers, the Lobo is a solid, fleshy powerhouse. The Pink and Blue morph is particularly prized for its “cotton candy” or “berry” aesthetic, often featuring a textured pink outer mantle with a deep blue or teal center.
Coloration: Blue outer rim with a contrasting pink “valley” and mouth.
Growth Pattern: Mounding/Solitary (large, fleshy polyps over a heavy, lobed stony skeleton). 4-5 inches in size.
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 100–150).
Water Flow: Low to Medium (Gentle enough to let the flesh “puff up”).
Feeding: Very High (aggressive eater of meaty foods).
Aggressiveness: Moderate (can sting neighbors if they touch, but no long sweepers).
Care Level: Easy to Moderate.
