Overview:

The Green Plate Coral (Fungia sp.) is a fascinating, solitary LPS coral that looks like a neon-glowing disc on the aquarium floor. Unlike almost every other stony coral, the Plate Coral is free-living, meaning it is not attached to the rockwork. It sits directly on the sand and even has the ability to slowly “crawl” or inflate itself to move short distances if it’s unhappy with its lighting or flow.

Coloration: green
Growth Pattern: Solitary/Discoid (a single large polyp on a flat, circular or oval skeleton).
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 100–150).
Water Flow: Low to Medium (Enough to keep the surface clean, but not enough to flip it over).
Feeding: High (Aggressively eats meaty foods).
Aggressiveness: Moderate (Can sting neighbors, but lacks long sweepers).
Care Level: Easy.
