Green Psammocora-1

The Green Psammocora (Psammocora contigua / Psammocora sp., often sold under names like Electric Green or Forest Green Psammocora) is a resilient, velvety Small Polyp Stony (SPS) coral prized for its unique, fuzzy texture and intense radioactive glow. Known as a “fuzzy pillar” coral, this adaptable species features a bright neon-green, emerald, or lime coenosteum densely covered in tiny, flower-like tentacles that give the entire colony a soft, mossy appearance when fully expanded under blue actinic lighting.

Coloration: Electric neon-green, jade, or lime base tissue, densely covered in glowing chartreuse-to-green polyps that create a fuzzy, velvet-like surface appearance.

Growth Pattern: Encrusting and Columnar/Branching (forms a thick encrusting base before sending up short, blunted, digit-like pillars, vertical ridges, or flattened lobes). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.

Lighting: Moderate (PAR 125–220).

Water Flow: Moderate to High (Strong, randomized multi-directional current to maintain polyp health and prevent detritus accumulation).

Feeding: Photosynthetic; extends fine micro-polyps continuously to capture liquid amino acids, micro-plankton powders, and particulate SPS foods.

Aggressiveness: Peaceful to Semi-Aggressive (lacks long stinging sweeper tentacles, but will steadily encrust over competing static neighbors if allowed to touch).

Care Level: Easy to Moderate (Exceptionally hardy for an SPS, highly tolerant of parameter fluctuations, making it a fantastic beginner-to-intermediate stony coral).
