The Electric Daisy Stylocoeniella (Stylocoeniella guentheri / Stylocoeniella sp.) is an elite, high-contrast encrusting Small Polyp Stony (SPS) coral highly prized by high-end collector reefers. Known as the ultimate “cryptic encruster,” this designer cultivar features a vivid hot pink, magenta, or fiery red coenosteum (tissue base) densely studded with star-like, radioactive neon-green or chartreuse polyps that extend continuously, creating a stunning daisy-field aesthetic under blue actinics.
Coloration: Electric hot pink, magenta, or cherry-red base tissue, densely covered in glowing radioactive neon-green or chartreuse polyps that feature fine yellow centers.
Growth Pattern: Encrusting (forms a smooth, low-profile mat that sheet-grows rapidly across rockwork, plugs, glass walls, and ceramic tiles). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 75–150).
Water Flow: Moderate to High (Randomized, multi-directional flow to flush away detritus from its tight polyp carpet).
Feeding: Photosynthetic; extends fine micro-polyps continuously day and night to capture liquid amino acids, micro-plankton powders, and fine particulate SPS feeds.
Aggressiveness: Peaceful / Defenseless (lacks stinging sweeper tentacles; can easily be overgrown or stung by neighboring aggressive LPS, softies, or encrusting chalices).
Care Level: Easy to Moderate (Significantly more forgiving of lighting shifts than true Acropora, highly resilient once acclimated to stable chemistry).
