The Green Millepora (Acropora millepora) is a classic, highly coveted Small Polyp Stony (SPS) coral famous for its dense, hairy appearance and high-energy branching growth. Renowned among SPS collectors as one of the most textured Acropora species, this cultivar features a bright electric emerald-to-lime green skeletal body densely covered in long, shaggy axial polyps that sway vigorously in high-flow currents, creating a dynamic, mossy lawn effect across the upper reef aquascape.
Coloration: Radiant metallic green, lime, or emerald skeletal branches, complemented by long, dense yellow-green to chartreuse polyps, often featuring brighter yellow or ice-blue growth tips.
Growth Pattern: Corymbose / Bushy-Branching (forms a heavy, encrusted base pad before sending up tight clusters of thick, interlocking vertical branches). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.
Lighting: High (PAR 250–400+).
Water Flow: High to Very High (Strong, direct or surging multi-directional flow).
Feeding: Photosynthetic; extends ultra-hairy micro-polyps continuously day and night to capture liquid amino acids, rotifers, micro-plankton powders, and fine particulate SPS feeds.
Aggressiveness: Peaceful / Defenseless (lacks stinging sweeper tentacles; relies on rapid calcification and branching to compete for space, but easily stung by neighboring LPS or anemones).
Care Level: Advanced (Requires immaculate, stable reef water chemistry, high PAR, and vigorous water movement to thrive and prevent tissue recession).
