The City Lights Psammocora (Psammocora sp., frequently lineaged by Tidal Gardens) is a striking, highly textured Small Polyp Stony (SPS) coral prized for its vibrant contrast and urban twilight aesthetic. Known for its velvety, moss-like appearance, this cultivar features a deep indigo-purple to royal blue coenosteum densely dotted with glowing gold, neon-yellow, or chartreuse polyps that resemble a metropolis illuminated at night under blue actinic lighting.
Coloration: Deep indigo-purple, dark violet, or midnight blue base tissue, densely covered in glowing golden-yellow to chartreuse micro-polyps.
Growth Pattern: Encrusting and Columnar (forms a thick encrusting mat across surfaces before pushing up short, blunted, digit-like ridges or small pillars). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.
Lighting: Moderate (PAR 125–200).
Water Flow: Moderate to High (Randomized multi-directional current to maintain polyp expansion and prevent detritus accumulation).
