The Branching Goniopora (often called the “Flower Pot Coral”) is a stunning and unique variation of the traditional encrusting Goniopora. While most Goniopora grow in mounds, this variety develops a branching skeletal structure that resembles a bouquet of flowers. It is famous for its long, flowing polyps that sway beautifully in the current, adding incredible movement to the reef. Historically, Goniopora were considered difficult to keep, but modern branching varieties are generally much hardier and more resilient than their wild-caught “ball” counterparts.
