The ACI Manila Spy Montipora (Montipora sp., lineaged directly from Aquatic Collection Inc.) is a highly coveted, ultra-rare designer Small Polyp Stony (SPS) coral celebrated for its intense electric neon coloration and distinct growth habit. Revered among high-end SPS collectors, this cultivar features a blazing, radioactive orange-to-red coenosteum (tissue base) contrasted by fine, glowing pink-to-lavender axial tips and fuzzy, star-like polyps that pop with extreme saturation under heavy blue actinic LEDs.
Coloration: Intense electric orange to fiery salmon-red base tissue, accented by pale lavender, soft pink, or cyan axial growth tips and dense, fuzzy orange polyps.
Growth Pattern: Encrusting to Semi-Branching / Digitata-like (forms a thick encrusting base pad before pushing up irregular, blunted finger-like shoots or delicate plating edges as it matures). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.
Lighting: Moderate to High (PAR 200–300).
Water Flow: Moderate to High (Strong, randomized multi-directional flow to drive rapid growth and flush away trapped detritus).
Feeding: Photosynthetic; extends fine micro-polyps continuously day and night to capture liquid amino acids, micro-plankton powders, and fine particulate SPS feeds.
Aggressiveness: Peaceful / Defenseless (lacks stinging sweeper tentacles; relies on rapid encrusting calcification, but easily stung or overgrown by aggressive LPS, softies, or encrusting chalices).
Care Level: Easy to Moderate (Hardy and resilient once acclimated to stable reef parameters, making it an excellent high-impact SPS candidate).
