The Green Reaper Torch Coral (Euphyllia glabrescens, often traded under designer titles like Grim Reaper or Green Reaper Torch) is a high-demand, high-contrast Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral known for its dark, gothic palette. Revered among Euphyllia collectors, this cultivar features long, flowing tentacles with a deep, smoky charcoal, deep purple, or midnight blue base that transitions into vibrant, glowing neon green or yellow-green tips.
Coloration: Deep smoky charcoal, midnight indigo, or dark purple tentacle shafts, crowned with radioactive neon green or chartreuse tips and a bright turquoise-blue oral disc.
Growth Pattern: Branching / Phaceloid (builds a calcium carbonate skeletal branch structure, continuously dividing at the head to form multi-polyp clusters). Sold as 1 head on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.
Lighting: Moderate (PAR 125–220).
Water Flow: Moderate to High (Randomized, fluid motion that keeps the long tentacles swaying without whipping them violently against the sharp skeletal corallite walls).
Feeding: Active carnivore; extends long, sticky tentacles day and night to accept mysis shrimp, chopped brine, enriched LPS pellets, and liquid amino acids.
Aggressiveness: Aggressive (possesses potent stinging sweeper tentacles that can extend up to 3–5 inches to sting nearby SPS, softies, or non-Euphyllia LPS).
Care Level: Moderate (Requires steady alkalinity/calcium levels, proper flow tuning, and protection against brown jelly disease).
