Wolverine Favia

The Wolverine Favia (Favites sp. / Dipsastraea sp., lineaged alongside high-contrast designer brain coral morphs) is an aggressive, strikingly patterned Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral named for its sharp, claws-out color contrast. Coveted by LPS collectors, this cultivar features deep navy-blue or metallic slate corallite valleys punctured by glowing, claw-like neon-yellow to bright lime-green oral eyes that extend outward into vivid golden-orange septal grooves along the corallite walls.

​Coloration: Metallic slate-blue, dark indigo, or navy corallite base, punctured by piercing neon-yellow to bright chartreuse oral eyes that fade into fiery golden-orange septal ridges along the corallite rims.

Growth Pattern: Encrusting to Sub-massive (forms a dense, tight-knit skeletal sheet over rockwork or ceramic frag plugs before slowly building into a rounded dome). Sold as a frag on a 0.5-1 inch frag plug.

Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 75–150).

Water Flow: Moderate (Randomized, indirect current to flush out organic detritus from the ribbed corallite channels without causing tissue recession).

Feeding: Active nocturnal feeder; extends clear, sticky feeder tentacles from each corallite eye after lights-out to accept micro-pellets, mysis shrimp, liquid amino acids, and fine particulate LPS diets.

Aggressiveness: Aggressive (extends potent, clear sweeper tentacles at night up to 1.5–2 inches that will sting and destroy neighboring corals upon contact).

Care Level: Easy to Moderate (Exceptionally hardy and resilient to minor parameter shifts once established in a mature aquarium).
