The Orange and Blue Acan (Micromussa lordhowensis) is one of the most sought-after color combinations for hobbyists building a diverse “Acan Garden.” This morph typically features a fiery, molten orange center surrounded by thick, pillowy rings of icy blue, slate, or cobalt. Because blue and orange are complementary colors on the color wheel, this coral provides a visual “pop” that is nearly impossible to beat. They are famous for their “fat” appearance, as the fleshy polyps often expand so much they look like a cluster of colorful donuts.
Coloration: Radiant tangerine or burnt orange centers with outer rings of cool sky blue, denim, or navy.
Size: 0.5-1 inch frag
Lighting: Low to Moderate (75–125 PAR; avoid high light, as it will cause the orange to bleach and the polyps to stay shrunken).
Water flow: Low (gentle, indirect flow is best; they should “sway” but not be pinned against their skeleton).
Feeding: Essential; they are voracious eaters and will grow much faster with weekly feedings of mysis shrimp or high-protein coral pellets.
Aggressiveness: Peaceful (they can be placed touching other Micromussa lordhowensis morphs to create a seamless colorful carpet).
Care Level: Easy (very hardy and a great “next step” for beginners).
