The Joker Blasto Merletti (Blastomussa merletti) is a stunning, classic designer LPS coral named for its iconic villain-inspired palette. Unlike its larger-polyped cousin (B. wellsi), the merletti species forms tight, branching colonies of smaller, button-sized polyps (around 1/2″ wide).
This morph features a glowing electric mint or surf-green center and oral disc bordered by a deep royal purple to maroon outer ring, giving it a striking, high-contrast look on the lower reef.
Coloration: Electric mint-green or teal center disc, rich purple to maroon outer ring, and a pale or yellow oral eye.
Growth Pattern: Branching / Cluster-forming (branches pack tightly together into rounded, dome-shaped mini-colonies). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 50–125).
Water Flow: Low to Gentle (Indirect, sweeping current).
Feeding: Highly recommended; readily accepts fine mysis, coral pellets, or powder feeds when polyps expand.
Aggressiveness: Peaceful (lacks long sweeper tentacles; can easily be stung by aggressive neighbors).
