Magician Zoanthids are a striking and high-impact “collector” zoa known for their oversized polyps and intricate, speckled patterns. This variety is instantly recognizable by its deep red or burgundy plate, which is dusted with white or silver “glitter” spots, resembling a starry night or a magician’s cape. A vibrant neon-green center and a crown of dark tentacles complete the look. These are relatively fast growers and are much larger than standard zoanthids, making them a fantastic focal point for a dedicated zoa garden.
Coloration: Deep red/burgundy face with silver speckles and a bright neon-green mouth
Size: 1–2 inch frag (typically 2- 3polyps)
Lighting: Low to moderate (higher light can intensify the red, but may shrink polyp size)
Water flow: Medium (enough to keep the polyps clean and prevent detritus buildup)
Feeding: Primarily photosynthetic, but will eagerly accept finely minced meaty foods or zooplankton
Aggressiveness: Peaceful (but can grow over slower-moving neighbors)
Care Level: Easy
