The White Zombie Zoa (Zoanthus sp. / Palythoa sp.) is an elite, high-end collector grail zoanthid renowned for its mesmerizing, high-contrast radial detail. Widely considered one of the most stunning “paint-spattered” morphs in the reef hobby, this piece features a broad oral disc dominated by intense, icy chalk-white to mint-cyan radial striations radiating out from a glowing neon-green mouth, bordered by a dark plum ring, and tipped with striking orange-to-red beaded skirts.
Coloration: Stark chalk-white to mint-cyan radial striations over a dark charcoal/violet face disc, centered around an electric-green mouth slit, and crowned with orange-to-red tipped skirt tentacles.
Growth Pattern: Colonial mat (forms large, fleshy individual polyps connected by a thick tissue mat that encrusts slowly across frag plugs and rockwork). Sold as 1-3 polyps.
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 75–125).
Water Flow: Low to Moderate (Gentle, indirect sweeping current).
Feeding: Photosynthetic; responds well to optional spot-feeding with micro-plankton powders, coral amino acids, or liquid feeds to encourage faster budding.
Aggressiveness: Peaceful to Semi-Aggressive (lacks long stinging tentacles, but individual polyps grow quite large and can crowd out smaller zoanthids).
Care Level: Moderate (Requires stable parameters, indirect light, and patience during acclimation to preserve its intricate white striations).
