Overview:
The Double Head Neon Green Splatter Hammer coral (Fimbriaphyllia paraancora) is a visually stunning branching hammer coral, prized for its unique neon green splatter coloration on deep purple or metallic bases. Its two heads display vivid neon green splotches resembling paint splatters, producing an impressive fluorescent glow under UV and actinic lighting, making it an eye-catching centerpiece for reef aquariums.
Colorization:
This coral features dark purple or brownish-purple tentacles with intense, electric neon green splatters and bright green or white tips. The splatter pattern creates a high contrast look, enhancing its vibrant glow under specialized lighting.
Size:
The specimen includes two distinct coral heads, perfect for showcasing its branching structure and colorful tentacles in medium to large reef tanks.
Lighting:
Ideal lighting is moderate, within the range of 125–200 PAR. Avoid excessive intense light that can fade the purple base color and diminish the neon splatter effect. Moderate light helps maintain the fluorescence and overall health.
Water Flow:
Prefers medium, indirect, oscillating water flow. This gentle movement keeps the tentacles waving naturally without causing them to retract, encouraging healthy growth and optimal coloration.
Feeding:
Feeding is optional but beneficial. When feeding, offer mysis shrimp or specialized LPS coral pellets once or twice weekly to support growth and health.
Aggressiveness:
The coral is peaceful but requires ample space in the aquarium to avoid contact with neighboring corals, ensuring it thrives without competition stress.
Care Level:
Rated easy to moderate care. It is relatively hardy for a stony coral, provided stable Calcium and Alkalinity levels are maintained consistently.
