The Easter Egg Chalice (Echinophyllia sp. / Oxypora sp.)—frequently lineaged and distributed by ORA (Oceans, Reefs & Aquariums)—is a colorful, pastellated Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral celebrated for its soft, multi-hued palette. Named for its spring-like array of pastel shades, this striking collector chalice features a smooth to bumpy coenosteum blending soft lavender, sky-blue, mint green, and dusty pink, heavily accented by glowing neon-yellow to bright gold mouths that stand out brilliantly under blue actinics.
Coloration: Pastel lavender, powder-blue, mint-green, or dusty-pink coenosteum (tissue base), studded with brilliant gold-to-yellow raised mouths and corallite rims.
Growth Pattern: Plating and Encrusting (forms thin, horizontal, scroll-like plates that encrust rockwork and extend wavy, ruffled rims). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 in frag plug.
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 75–125).
Water Flow: Low to Moderate (Gentle, indirect sweeping current).
Feeding: Active nocturnal LPS carnivore; extends short translucent feeder tentacles after dark to capture mysis shrimp, micro-plankton, and LPS particulate feeds.
Aggressiveness: Aggressive (produces delicate, stinging sweeper tentacles at night that can reach nearby corals).
Care Level: Easy to Moderate (Hardy, highly adaptable once established, and holds its multi-colored pastel contrast well under LED lighting).
