The Ultra Red Chalice Coral (Echinophyllia, Echinopora, or Oxypora sp.) is a showstopping LPS coral designed to bring an intense, fiery pop to the lower levels of a reef display. Celebrated for its smooth, sweeping tissue plates and glowing contrast, this morph features a deep crimson to electric scarlet body dotted with bright, neon-colored mouth eyes—typically fluorescent yellow, lime green, or ice blue.
As it grows, it forms dramatic, cup-shaped plates or encrusts seamlessly over rockwork, creating a striking focal point under both daylights and actinic LEDs.
Coloration: Deep crimson, ruby, or neon red body base with bright contrasting yellow eyes.
Growth Pattern: Plating / Encrusting (grows out in flat sheets, bowl-like spirals, or encrusts over hard surfaces). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 75–125).
Water Flow: Low to Medium (Gentle, indirect current).
Feeding: Highly receptive to target feeding; extends fine feeder tentacles at night for micro-pellets, fine mysis, or reef powder.
Aggressiveness: Semi-aggressive to Aggressive (extends potent sweeper tentacles at night).
