Overview:
The Hell Fire Torch is a striking LPS coral known for its aggressive stinging tentacles and mesmerizing coloration. This branching Euphyllia variant captivates reef enthusiasts with vibrant, fiery tones and a “lava-like” glow under blue actinic lighting. It grows by budding new heads, allowing you to cultivate a spectacular colony.
Colorization:
Exhibits electric orange and gold tentacles with a vibrant green base and contrasting purple center, often blending all three colors within individual tentacles for a spectacular visual effect.
Size:
Sold as a single head specimen, ideal for both new additions or as the starting point of a flourishing LPS coral colony.
Lighting:
Thrives under moderate to high lighting conditions, specifically 150–250 PAR. Intense blue lighting is essential to illuminate the Hell Fire Torch’s vivid fire pigments, creating a glowing underwater spectacle.
Water Flow:
Requires moderate and indirect water flow to keep tentacles moving gracefully without causing retraction, ensuring the coral’s health and display vibrancy.
Feeding:
Benefits considerably from weekly spot-feeding with mysis shrimp or high-quality LPS pellets, enhancing both its growth rate and stunning color saturation.
Aggressiveness:
Highly aggressive with powerful stinging “sweeper” tentacles that can extend several inches at night. It must be positioned carefully away from other corals to prevent harm.
Care Level:
Moderate care requirements including stable alkalinity and magnesium levels are critical to prevent tissue recession and maintain robust health.
