Overview:
The ORA Pink Goniopora Coral, often called the “Flowerpot Coral,” is a prized addition to reef tanks focusing on large polyp stony (LPS) corals. This bright pink variety is a cultured strain known for its relative hardiness compared to wild green cousins. The coral displays long fleshy stalks topped with 24-petal delicate “flowers” that sway gracefully, adding vibrant movement and color to your aquarium.
Colorization:
Vibrant bubblegum pink dominates the appearance, with some morphs highlighting a contrasting white or neon yellow “eye” at the center of each polyp, creating an eye-catching contrast.
Size:
Typically available as a frag plug measuring between 0.5 and 1 inch, ideal for gradual growth in your reef setup.
Lighting:
Prefers moderate lighting conditions around 100–200 PAR. Excessive lighting can bleach or cause tissue to retract, so moderate care in light exposure is essential.
Water Flow:
Requires medium and turbulent water flow. The flow should be enough to allow stalks to sway gracefully without forcing them against the skeleton.
Feeding:
Feeding is essential as Pink Goniopora are filter feeders. Frequent feedings of liquid phytoplankton, oyster feast, or very fine powdered coral foods help prevent long-term recession and maintain health.
Aggressiveness:
The coral demonstrates semi-aggressive behavior. While it lacks long sweeper tentacles, its extended stalks can sting nearby neighbors if they come into contact.
Care Level:
Moderate care is required. Maintaining stable magnesium and manganese levels is critical; manganese is considered a secret ingredient to sustaining Goniopora health long-term.
