The Green and Purple Cynarina (Cynarina lacrymalis), often called the Cat’s Eye or Button Coral, is a stunning, solitary LPS coral renowned for its massive, translucent tissue inflation. Under proper conditions, its tissue expands into a soft, glass-like donut or jelly ring, revealing the underlying skeletal ridges beneath.
This high-contrast morph features a deep violet, magenta, or royal purple body and rim surrounding a glowing emerald-green to mint center, making it a dramatic centerpiece on the aquarium floor.
Coloration: Deep purple, royal blue, or magenta outer tissue ring with an electric emerald-green, mint, or cyan center and mouth.
Size: 2-4 inches
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 50–100).
Water Flow: Low to Gentle (Low, indirect current).
Feeding: Highly receptive to target feeding; extends a ring of feeder tentacles at night for mysis, brine, or soft LPS pellets.
Aggressiveness: Semi-aggressive (can sting neighboring corals if its inflated tissue brushes against them).
Care Level: Easy to Moderate.
