Green Montipora Cap

The Green Montipora Cap (Montipora capricornis) is a classic, foundational SPS coral adored by reef keepers for its vibrant fluorescent coloration and dynamic structural growth. Creating sweeping horizontal architecture within the aquascape, this morph forms broad, swirling plates and layered cups that build outward in dramatic tiers.

Its tissue displays a intense, glowing emerald to neon lime-green color that pops intensely under actinic lighting, accented by fine, lighter green or teal-white polyps that give the surface a velvet-like texture when expanded.

Coloration: Fluorescent emerald to neon lime-green plating tissue, covered with delicate, pale green to white polyps.

Growth Pattern: Plating / Scroll (builds broad, overlapping horizontal tiers, spiraling cups, and swirling plates). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.

Lighting: Moderate to High (PAR 150–250).

Water Flow: Moderate to Strong (Turbulent, indirect sweeping current to prevent detritus from settling within the cups).

Feeding: Photosynthetic; captures fine particulate organic matter, liquid amino acids, and micro-plankton.

Aggressiveness: Peaceful (lacks long sweeper tentacles, though its fast growth rate will eventually shade or overgrow neighboring corals).
