Psammocora coral is a unique Small Polyp Stony (SPS) coral that features a fuzzy, velvet-like texture due to its tiny, recessed polyps. Often referred to as “Sandpaper Coral,” it is much hardier than many other SPS varieties, making it a great choice for hobbyists looking to add diverse texture to their reef. Watermelon Psammocora is particularly striking, offering an intense, warm glow that stands out against traditional greens and blues. It can grow in an encrusting or sub-branching fashion, eventually covering rockwork with a thick carpet of vibrant color.
