The Nacho Cheese Chalice (Echinophyllia sp. / Oxypora sp.) is an ultra-vivid, high-contrast Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral celebrated for its saturated, molten-lava aesthetic. Highly sought after by chalice collectors, this striking piece features an eye-searing, bright yellow-to-cheddar-orange coenosteum (tissue base) contrasted by deep magenta, purple, or dark red mouth raised-corallites and rim accents that pop intensely under blue actinic lighting.

Coloration: Radiant cheddar-yellow to electric orange base tissue, heavily studded with contrasting magenta, purple, or deep ruby-red mouths and corallite centers.

Growth Pattern: Plating and Encrusting (forms thin, smooth-to-ridged horizontal plates and scrolls that encrust over surrounding rockwork and frag tiles). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.

Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 75–125).

Water Flow: Low to Moderate (Gentle, indirect sweeping current).

Feeding: Active nocturnal LPS carnivore; extends short translucent feeder tentacles after dark to capture mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and micro-LPS pellets.

Aggressiveness: Aggressive (produces long, delicate sweeper tentacles at night that can sting nearby corals).

Care Level: Easy to Moderate (Hardy once acclimated, provided lighting remains indirect and chemistry stays stable).
