Overview:
The Red and Orange Leptoseris (often referred to as the Wrinkle Coral or Skin Coral) is a stunning encrusting LPS that looks like a topography map of a volcanic landscape. While the base is typically a deep, rich red, the tiny “eyes” or polyps feature glowing orange centers or tentacles. This coral is a favorite for reefers looking to add “pop” to the darker, shaded areas of their tank where other corals might struggle.
Coloration: Deep crimson or “blood” red base with neon orange polyps and tentacles.
Growth Pattern: Encrusting/Plating (grows as a thin “skin” over rocks or forms delicate, overlapping plates). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 50–100).
Water Flow: Low to Medium.
Feeding: Optional; absorbs dissolved organics and very fine particulate foods.
Aggressiveness: Peaceful (lacks long sweeper tentacles).
Care Level: Easy.
