Green Favia

The Green Favia (Dipsastraea sp., historically classified under Favia, often appearing as Electric Green, Dragon Soul, or Jade Favia) is a classic, highly popular Large Polyp Stony (LPS) brain coral prized for its bold contrast and glowing coloration. Highly resilient and adaptable, this staple cultivar features deep emerald, jade, or hunter-green corallite walls that encircle contrasting neon-lime, gold, or bright yellow oral discs and glowing mouths under blue actinic lighting.

Coloration: Deep emerald-green, jade, or forest-green skeletal walls, contrasted by glowing neon-lime, chartreuse, or gold oral centers and pale green mouths.

Growth Pattern: Encrusting and Dome-forming (forms low-profile encrusting mats that gradually mature into thick, rounded brain-like domes). Sold as a frag on a 0.5 – 1 inch frag plug.

Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 75–150).

Water Flow: Low to Moderate (Gentle, indirect sweeping current).

Feeding: Active nocturnal LPS carnivore; extends short translucent feeder tentacles after dark to capture mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and micro-pellets.

Aggressiveness: Semi-Aggressive (deploys thin, stinging sweeper tentacles at night to defend surrounding space).

Care Level: Easy (Exceptionally hardy, highly adaptable to varying tank conditions, making it an ideal starter LPS brain coral).
